“Transfer of Heat”

A new solo exhibition by Saburo Muraoka, one of the leading figures of contemporary Japanese art.

Widely known for his iron sculptures, Muraoka has also continued his experimental practice using materials such as salt, sulfur, as well as intangible elements including “heat,” “sound,” and “body temperature.”

For this exhibition, Muraoka plans to present a new work titled Separated Heat, incorporating iron, heat, sulfur, and honey. Through traces left behind, the invisible phenomenon of “heat” is rendered visible, while the work attempts to “separate” heat — something that ordinarily cannot be conceived as separable. The exhibition is expected to present a characteristically thought-provoking new work that fundamentally questions our ordinary assumptions and concepts.
