KENJI TAKI GALLERY Nagoya will hold a special exhibition from Tuesday, September 1 to Thursday, September 10, in memory of the sculptor Shigeo Toya, who passed away earlier this year on April 15.
Since 1994, KENJI TAKI GALLERY has had the privilege of hosting 18 solo exhibitions of Mr. Toya’s new works, and he has also presented his magnificent pieces in numerous group exhibitions with us.
It is a source of irreplaceable pride and profound gratitude for us to have been able to witness his powerful creative journey alongside him for nearly 30 years.
Following the recent memorial gatherings held in Tokyo and at Musashino Art University, we have now arranged to hold this special exhibition at KENJI TAKI GALLERY Nagoya.
Additionally, on the afternoon of Saturday, September 5, we will host a reception with the Toya family.
Aichi is a place with which Mr. Toya had deep connections; he spent his student years here at the Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, and in 2003, he held the solo exhibition “Shigeo Toya : Folds, Grazes and Anima of the Woods” at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art.
With the hope of welcoming Mr. Toya back to Aichi once more, we would be delighted if this occasion could serve as a space for warm conversation as we welcome Toya’s family.
We express our deepest gratitude for the kindness and support shown to the artist during his lifetime, and we sincerely look forward to welcoming you to the gallery.
