Based on a keen observation of everyday situations and familiar spaces, his approach is conceptual yet conveys a sense of lightness and humor. Using ubiquitous everyday objects and familiar landscapes as his materials, he introduces slight physical manipulations or visual rules. This shifts their original meanings and functions, unsettling the viewer’s preconceptions and spatial perception. In the context of conceptual art, which often tends to be overly complex or obscure, an intellectual playfulness that naturally brings a smile to one’s face pervades his entire body of work. To most appropriately visualize his ideas and concepts, he is not bound by specific forms of expression, flexibly utilizing a diverse range of media including photography, video, three-dimensional objects, and installations.
