Biography

1957: Born in Jeonju (Jun Ju), South Korea.

Studied fine arts at Kyung Hee University and its graduate school.

In the late 1980s, he began in earnest to create video-based installations, gaining international attention at exhibitions such as the 1989 São Paulo Biennial. In 1992, he participated in the contemporary art exhibition Documenta 9 (Kassel, Germany). He continues to live and work in South Korea.
